We are in the process of launching a new version of our website Shelping.Com which has now been built in WordPress
In a nutshell this is the site's journey & issues...
- First site built within Google App Engine on WordPress using Divi theme and their native page builder. (Go to http://35.228.224.116/ to access that version)
- Site moved to 123.reg hosting but it struggled with load times. (this site is http://www.devsiteshelping.co.uk/) I rebuilt instead of migrated due to issues migrating and it was quicker to rebuilt.
- Site was moved again to Nitrex.net hosting onto the domain shelping.hidenda.com. Built originally in here with Divi, then moved to Astra Pro & Elementor due to Divi causing load speed issues.
- Website is now built on WordPress with WooCommerce integration. We're using Astra Pro as a theme and Elementor Pro for a page builder. Hosted on Kinsta.
- DNS servers changed from 123reg to Kinsta but every time we put the site live onto http://www.shelping.com it throws errors:
1) on product pages, the yellow bar at the top on mobiles goes onto 3 lines so it's like padding increases or its not properly responsive. (This element has been hard php coded, it doesn't use WP functionality or a plugin)
2) on product pages again, the reviews overview under product images again goes over 2 lines and doesn't show all the stars. (This is driven from Woo/WP)
3) on product pages again, the add to basket button becomes unjustified.
Since migrating the website to Kinsta and then going from staging to live we've had issues where the site is calling the old domain shelping.hidenda.com and also an old CDN. It was also pulling in mixed content http vs https (http was the old CDN, not the one we're using).
Kinsta have a search and replace tool which I've used today to replace the old domain and the http errors.
But we're still experiencing these issues noted above (1-3) and cannot see where the error is. That's where we need some help.
We would also like to know if the site has been built badly - we're worried adding plugins wrecks the site and causes issues and do we have issues moving from a dev environment to live (and knockon effects on plugins, DB, CSS etc).
There are some other bespoke PHP elements on the site that their dev has added to break up some of the Woocommerce functionality and add in bits that we required. For example, on checkout adding in the "spend X amount to get free delivery" bit.
