This is a piece of work for Achieving for Children, who are a not for profit organisation and who run a number of youth centres in Kingston & Richmond. We would like to encourage children to explore our centres more and are looking to create an indoor treasure hunt using AR. The solution will use various clues and riddles to guide children from room to room and in each room - ideally, they would be looking for virtual famous characters hiding underneath or behind things, which would then tell them what room they need to go to next (and what to look for). The solution would take them around the centre, exploring all the rooms as they go and helping them learn about the facilities on offer (such as the music room or the library, for instance). A means of being able to determine if they'd solved all the clues, found all the characters and visited all the rooms would help us to reward them for completing the game successfully. Two levels to make things equally achievable and interesting for two different age/ability groups would enable the solution to be more inclusive. The solution would need to work on both Android & iPhone devices and be easy to set up at the start. It would also need to ensure that only visitors to the centre will have access to it.
This is our first post on People Per Hour and also our first project to explore the use of AR in children's services. *The price shown is just a placeholder price* and we would welcome a proposal for the whole project before discussing a smaller, proof of concept piece of work, which would be designed to showcase the art of the possible and what you have the skills to deliver for us. If the proof of concept demonstrates the features and the outcomes we are looking for, then we would discuss further work with you to complete the remaining development.
We are hoping that AR can bring some real benefits and help us to provide a much more interactive and engaging experience to our younger residents and we are therefore keen to find people to work with us on future projects.
Please feel free to ask any clarification questions before submitting your proposal(s).
