Our marketplace is built on top of an established clothing printing and embroidery business. The user experience must reflect our heritage—screen printing, direct‑to‑garment printing and embroidery—while introducing a new multi‑vendor platform. Therefore, UI/UX research and design should consider existing customers who already purchase our printed or embroidered products and new sellers/customers joining the marketplace. The interface should present intuitive tools for customising both printed and embroidered products and communicate our craftsmanship and reliability.
Research & personas: Conduct user research to identify buyer and seller personas. Map out user journeys for shopping, product customisation and seller onboarding. Pay particular attention to the needs of our existing printing and embroidery customers and how they might use the marketplace alongside new buyers and independent sellers.
Wireframes & prototypes: Create low‑fidelity and high‑fidelity wireframes for key pages (home page, product category pages, product details, design editor, seller dashboard and checkout). Use prototyping tools (Figma, Adobe XD) and iterate based on feedback.
Visual design: Develop a modern, accessible design system (colour palette, typography, icons) aligned with the brand. The visual language should merge our established identity as a printing and embroidery business with the fresh, community‑focused feel of a marketplace. Design responsive layouts for desktop and mobile.
Usability & accessibility: Ensure compliance with WCAG standards. Include intuitive navigation, clear call‑to‑action buttons and minimal friction during customisation. Pay special attention to the design editor interface so that drag‑and‑drop, resizing and layer management are intuitive.
Collaboration: Work closely with the development team to deliver design assets and specifications. Provide guidance on front‑end implementation to ensure fidelity to the design and responsiveness.
Deliverables:
Research summary, personas and user flows.
Interactive prototypes in Figma/Adobe XD for all core pages.
A style guide covering colours, fonts, icons, button styles and UI components.
Accessibility checklist.
Timeframe: Approximately 4–6 weeks. UI/UX should begin early so that design decisions inform development architecture.
Ideal Freelancer Profile:
Experienced UI/UX designer with a portfolio of e‑commerce or marketplace projects.
Proficient in user research methods and prototyping tools.
Familiarity with mobile‑first and responsive design.
Strong collaboration skills to work alongside developers and SEO specialists.
