We are seeking a highly skilled graphic designer or visual artist to develop a polished, gallery-ready poster & flyer for our upcoming exhibition, The Smell Of Sanctity, exploring the role of scent and fragrance in the Christian religion.
Project background:
This exhibition will take place from 26–30 November. The current concept is an ethereal, abstract cloud-based image with minimalist text, evoking a sense of sanctity and mystery. While the creative direction is established, we require a designer to refine and elevate the image and layout, delivering a truly professional, visually impactful result for print and display.
Key requirements: Refine and improve the existing visual concept, creating a more distinctive, gallery quality design. The selected candidate will need to present three different design options for review before the final artwork is chosen. Artwork must be scalable and suitable for printing at sizes from A3 up to A0 (minimum 300dpi at A0 size). Final deliverable must include the full vector artwork (preferably Adobe Illustrator .ai, .eps, or .svg format). PDF alone is not sufficient—vector layers are required so the design can be scaled and adjusted for any print size without loss of quality. Include all fonts outlined/embedded and any linked images at highest resolution.
Typography: Suggest and implement contemporary, elegant fonts suitable for a modern art context (not default system fonts). Text placement and hierarchy: Ensure the exhibition title and subtitle are beautifully integrated and legible at all sizes. Image refinement: Enhance the abstraction, mood, and subtlety of the cloud/mist elements, avoiding any cliché religious symbolism, with a sophisticated, minimal colour palette.
Professional file preparation: Deliver the final artwork as a high-resolution, fully editable vector file (AI/EPS/SVG), including all assets.
You will receive: The current draft image and full wall label text. Creative direction and references as needed. Prompt and clear feedback throughout the process.
Ideal candidate: Proven experience in gallery, exhibition, or high-end poster design. Ability to interpret and elevate an existing concept, not just follow a brief. Confident working with minimal, abstract visual language.
