We have built a multivendor website for my client that uses WP and Dokan combination. It is customized website with some unique features. Client now wants a different way for vendors to signup. Let me explain.
At the moment, vendors are requesting an approval by using regular signup form which normal customers use too to signup for a website. Only small difference is that you have to uncheck one option in order to signup as a normal customer. One other difference actually is that admin must approve your vendor account, but this is not relevant for the task in hand.
So, client now wants a different way for vendor signup/request an approval. They feel it is better to have the application on its own page so that they can share the link with others and strategically place “apply now” buttons throughout the site that will lead vendors to the application.
Client also wants to be able to advertise the application in the future. Therefore, they believe having its own page would be ideal. Also, this should be the only way a vendor can apply. Which means old way of signing up as a vendor will be removed. Old signup method/popup form will only be reserved for regular customers to signup.
New method of vendor signup should be connected to the website backend. Below are the steps of how client envisioned it to work: 1. Vendor applies via application 2. notification appears on the backend and by email to admin 3. admin reads and reviews application answers 4. admin Approves or Denies application 5. kickback email gets sent to vendor (either approval or denial) 6. email contains more information and the next step for the vendor to subscribe, pay and set up an account/product.
As already mentioned, client needs some form of application to gather more information. They mentioned Typeform as an example, but not necessarily to use Typeform. Ideally something that looks modern and collects the data that they need. Put wording “WP/Dokan master” at the top of your job app so I know you’ve read this carefully.
Take a look the following application: https://www.wolfandbadger.com/uk/apply/ They need something like this for the Vendors only as they will be approving or denying their participation.
New form obviously has to be implemented/connected to the rest of the site. It may have to work alongside Dokan too. Not sure about this though and I will need your recommendations and ideas.
Perhaps we can use Typeform or similar WP plugin which would handle most of the work for us. However, it may be a problem since Dokan is used for everything Vendor wise. Maybe we should make custom form, make it work like client wants it and connect it to Dokan and the rest of the site. As long as new form works according to requirements with the website setup is fine. Again, I am interested to hear your ideas. And I don’t want to make things complicated here. Some simple solution that will work alongside existing website setup is all we need.
I am waiting for your ideas and suggestions. Price is just a placeholder. Budget and timeline are negotiable. Good luck!
